Standardisation
What is the purpose of a standardisation event?
OCN NI holds standardisation events to ensure that centres are applying consistent practice in assessing portfolios, sampling evidence and internal verification. These events are mandatory for Internal Verifiers in order for Centres to continue signing off the Recommendations for the Award of Credit (RAC).
Standardisation events are categorised by subject area and Centres will be required to attend specific events according to the courses they offer. Centres will be invited to specific events by OCN NI and given at least six weeks notice prior to an event. These events allow Centres to share good practice and to network with other organisations across different sectors.
Who should attend?
Standardisation events should be attended by Internal Verifiers who are responsible for monitoring the quality and consistency of assessment and signing off the RAC.
What happens at a standardisation event?
Standardisation events are chaired by External Subject Verifiers. Centre Internal Verifiers will attend and be asked to collaborate on:
- reviewing assessment practices and decisions so that they can ensure consistency and fairness.
- ensuring the consistency of evidence at different levels
- approving Internal Verification record keeping with OCN NI
- agreeing recommendations and action points if appropriate
