PRISON STAFF ACCREDITED TO BENEFIT PRISONERS

This new two-day course was developed by NIACRO with the support of Advice NI and Open College Network Northern Ireland and is offered twice a year at NIACRO’s Amelia Street office. The course is suitable for staff who work directly with people in prison and/or their families and covers benefit and tax credit related issues from the point of committal to release-examining the impact imprisonment has on benefit entitlement, the impact on families and what can be done to support resettlement.
Speaking at the event, course co-ordinator, Barry McMullan of NIACRO thanked both Advice NI and OCNNI for their input and praised the efforts of the participants. Speaking of the course, one participant
