The Lifelong Learning Team within Learning and Development, have won the National HPMA Award for Innovation in HR with their work on the Unleashing Talent Passport.
The Unleashing Talent Passport is a Level 2 Qualification based on the 6 Core Dimensions of the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) and is targeted at Bands 1 and 2 staff. With Essential Skills Literacy embedded into it, participants achieve 2 qualifications as part of their learning journey. The qualification is focused on service need and closely links participants’ job roles to the training provided. The project used this qualification as a means of accrediting the induction journey for staff within their KSF Foundation Gateway year.
Through a close collaboration with partners including BHSCT Service Groups, UNISON, Belfast Metropolitan College, Education Guidance Service for Adults, Open College Network Northern Irelandand the Beeches Widening Participation Unit, 3 cohorts of the programme have already been delivered. The Trust is currently working with the Faculty of Health and Social Care at London South Bank University to conduct a full evaluation based on a Learning and Productivity Metric.
In presenting the award to Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, the judges commented:
“The panel was impressed by the great partnership working across local social and economic systems. The incentivised induction process has shown great value as a building block for staff’s personal and professional development. It also shows innovative development of learning and productivity metrics. The project shows great transformational potential, all the more significant when considered in the context of the challenges facing the area and the organisation.”
